Intentional Community and Culture

Everyone is a part of a community and a culture, even of several communities and cultures. How many people, though, think about the foundations and processes of their communities and cultures? For the most part, we tend to view community and culture as circumstance, the way the world is about us, and our role is to navigate through this given environment.

A person can influence his or her community and culture, especially that which is most immediate. One can think differently, act differently, and live differently. The two greatest requirements for this are purpose and determination. Again referencing Gattaca (see yesterday's post), Vincent had a purpose and the determination to see through to his goal.
